The owner of the original hammer was burried together with 248 other Great Heathen Army warriors in a mass grave at Repton Church.
The Repton Viking Warrior was 6 foot tall, aged 35-40 and killed in battle. He is said to be Ivar The Boneless
The things he was buried for his afterlife, the analyzed set of battle wounds and the specific way he was put in the grave should confirm that.
It's great to see his facial reconstruction at Derby Museum!
