Ivar - Thor's hammer of Ivar the Boneless from Repton. Museum replica
Solid Silver Thor's hammer
This is our second reproduction of the mjolnir found in Repton, Derbyshire. At the Great Heathen Army mass burial site.
In the winter of 873, the Great Heathen Army, said to be led by Ivar the Boneless and his bother Olaf the White, attacked the Repton Abbey, a stronghold of power in the Kingdom of Mercia.
While the mass grave that was uncovered contained the remains of about 300 Viking warririos, one separate burial stood out - the Giant from Repton. A slash to his thigh and a spear wound to his head, this massive Viking was buried with a few artefacts, one of them being the Repton Mjolnir.
This individual is believed to be none other than Ivar the Boneless, and the Thor’s Hammer around his neck was of a simple, clean cut and classic shape.
We have examined the museum records and remade our Repton Hammer interpretation, dedivating it to the one and only, Ivar the Boneless.
Dimensions: 25 mm x 18 mm
